The preloaded, self-guided therapeutic VR programs and peer social support experiences are designed to extend treatment beyond the visit and reinforce existing care plans by supporting:
- Chronic pain
- Stress, anxiety, or behavioral health
- Neurological or cognitive rehabilitation

How do Veterans access XRHealth?
Access depends on VA eligibility determinations and local policies. For clinical or ordering questions, email veterans@xr.health.
How is patient eligibility determined?
Eligibility is ultimately determined by the VA. In general, patients who are eligible to receive prescribed medications or durable medical equipment (DME) through the VA may qualify. Our team can assist in clarifying eligibility pathways and required steps.
What is the typical time to initiation?
Following submission and approval of a provider request, many patients initiate therapy within approximately one week, depending on VA processing timelines.
What does the at-home program involve?
The program consists of structured, self-guided therapeutic sessions delivered in the home environment, with opportunities for participation in peer support groups.
What is the therapeutic experience of at-home VR?
Patients engage in brief, guided sessions using a lightweight, medical-grade VR headset. Interventions are designed to support specific clinical goals, including:
- Autonomic regulation and focus: paced breathing, grounding, and attentional training
- Sleep preparation: low-stimulation environments with guided wind-down protocols
- Pain and mobility support: graded movement exercises and interactive activities promoting functional range of motion
Does this required advanced technical proficiency?
No. Devices are delivered pre-configured, and onboarding includes a live setup session, written instructions, and ongoing technical support.
What is the risk of cybersickness or discomfort?
Most patients tolerate the intervention well. The system incorporates comfort-oriented design features (e.g., minimized motion, stable visual environments). Patients are advised to discontinue use temporarily if symptoms such as dizziness or nausea occur.
What equipment is provided?
Patients receive a medical-grade VR headset with controllers, charging accessories, and preloaded therapeutic software (including VR-based cognitive behavioral therapy modules where applicable).
Is this medication?
No. This is a non-pharmacologic, digital therapeutic intervention.
What clinical indications does this support?
Programs can be tailored to address conditions such as anxiety, stress-related disorders, chronic pain, sleep disturbances, and post-operative rehabilitation, depending on clinical judgment and patient needs.
How is patient data managed?
XRHealth operates in compliance with HIPAA requirements. All patient data is encrypted and used solely for care delivery, monitoring, and clinical support purposes.
